60 Cloudy. N.E. OCTOBER, TUESDAY 11th 1887.

Willie & I drove to Ashton. I purchased material for a pair of pantaloons, and W took it togather with some of the same for himself to Mrs Jno: Abell to be "made up" W drove down to Ednor trying to "collect" for me but the parties were not at home. I walked home from Ashton. Bro: Richd: called. I repared the well box lid. & W & I mended the kitchen roof, with tin. Mrs P. T Stabler drove into the yard out of the way of a "traction Engine" & came into the house. I saw Jno: Thomas at Ashton & settled with him for the milk up to Oct. 1st and over paid the account 12 cents. giving him $1.00 and his mothers bill ($2.50) his bill being $3.37.

55o Cloudy & Clearing OCTOBER. WEDNESDAY 12th 1887

Anna Parker called to see us. I did not see her, but after tea I walked down to "Bloomfield" & had a pleasant call. Wrote to Charley about Nick Johnson's "S.C. Kock & mailed the letter. Jehu Bowen's people sent up for me & I rode down and prescribed for his daughter "Ruth Anna" about "dark". I slept little or none last night, Harriet having a very bad cold coughed almost all through the night, and I was extremely anxious about her.

36o Clear. N.W. OCTOBER, THURSDAY 13th 1887.

I drove down to Jehu Bowen's & prescribed again for "Ruth Anna" again. he (Bowen) was here for medicine for her before day light. Sister Beulah came & took dinner with us. Bro R bringing her. Afternoon Alfred Warfield & a colored boy came & emptied the tanks at the "garden house" & filled the dust boxes. Andrew Johnson was here for advice & med: again. Willie rode over to Hartshorne's to see about hay again. Wm Mitchell was here & had tooth extracted, he lilves at Frank Wilson's. W got new pantaloons from Mrs Abel's and after tea he went to the "Good Templer's Lodge" at Olney. The little boy's from next door came in & spent the evening with Edwd: playing "Jack Straws".

44. Clear. S.W. OCTOBER, FRIDAY 14th 1887.

I drove to Ashton & to Jehu Bowen's. Willie went to school. Mrs Geo Matt Bell was here for advice & medicine.

35 Clear. N.E. OCTOBER, SATURDAY 15th 1887.

Beautiful day. Afternoon I drove to Caleb Pumphrey's Jr: & to Danl Bank's & down to Jehu Bowen's. Martha A Wright was here for advice & medicine Willie took "Fritz" & the "springwagon" and went over to Caleb Pumphrey's lot (on Horace Sedgwick place) for some corn ( 1. Barrel). Andrew Johnson was here for advice etc. Willie rode the mare down to "Ednor" to see Geo Gibson & Eugine Leizear he saw the former who paid him $2.00 but the latter was not at home. After supper Willie rode down to Ashton to Mrs: Abell's for my new pantaloons, and to pay her for making both pair, his & mine but they were not done: he then went up to S.S. and bought some dried beef. I made a coal fire in the parlor for the first time this fall, hoping ot keep it going all night.

32o Clear N.W. OCTOBER, SUNDAY 16th 1887.

Heavy frost this morning the first we have seen that amounted to anything. I felt unusually "stiff" and rheumatic when I first got out of bed. After breakfast I drove down to Jehu Bowen's W. going with me. Russell Stabler called here to see W early this morning. Bro R called. Chas: Howard (from "Johnny" Thoma's) brought little girl (Carrie Howar) for advice & med: Willie & I drove over to Riverside & dined there meeting Ernest & Minnie, and Miss Georgie Rust, who were spending the day there. Mrs: Robison (from next door) being alone, came in & took tea with us. Danl Budds son called & requested me to drive over tomorrow morning to prescribe for his little brother.

47 Cloudy & Mist S.E. OCTOBER, MONDAY 17th, 1887.

Mary Hill & girl from Jehu Bowen's were here quite early, and after breakfast Willie went with me to Dan: Budd's & Bowen's & I drove over to Jno Ed: Hill's. After noon I painted the "scaley" places on the wall over the fire place etc. in dining room. Drove to Ashton again towards evening Edwd with me & got some paint from "Bulwar".

50 Cloudy & Drizzle S.E. OCTOBER, TUESDAY 18th 1887.

I drove to Ashton and to Daniel Budd's, finished the re painting in the dining room Put down two sections of the old pump stalk, in the drain in front of our gate on the South side of the turnpike. Willie went to school, and towards evening he went down to Jno C Bentley's & got 50. cts: worth of hay for the horses. H recd a letter from Charley. I wrote to him & W took the letter up to the office after night.

47o Cloudy & Clearing. W. OCTOBER, WEDNESDAY 19th 1887.

Emma King came & washed for Harriet. I drove down to Jehu Bowen's and Ashton Afternoon I drove over to Mary. L. Robert's and home before supper time, Willie commenced husking corn in M L Robert's field, for Jno C Bentley @ 22 cts pr barrel. Bro: Richard called. Edward's pet squirrel got out of its cage (little Bessie leting it out) and after a long time he got it "coaxed" back into the cage & pulled the door shut with a string extending into the dining room window. "Phil Robison took tea with Edwd: After tea W went up to the store for sugar etc.

50o Cloudy & Rain. N.E. OCTOBER, THURSDAY 20th 1887.

Cloudy & drizzling all the fornoon & in the afternoon it settled into a steady rain which continued up to bed time promising a rainy night. Jehu Bowen's people sent me $2.00 from Ruth Anna & I sent them a prescription & advice. Afgternoon I opened some drains around the house to carry off the water. My "pump stalk" drain pipe seems to answer very well in front of the road gate, but I fear it would not be large enough in the event of a very heavy rain Recd postal card from Charley & some papers from Dora.
