Capt Winsor

Dear Sir,

Your explanations for my inquiries about certain lots were recd. I fear there is still some error -- for if you give 3423 to Agnes R. Phelps, Snowdrop Path, it leaves only four consecutive numbers for Mr Read's ^five lots, viz. 3419-20-21-22.

As there is always great liability to troublesome errors in reporting and making changed, and as several have occurred much to the disfigurement of the record, I beg leave to say that I prefer, if you have no objection, to seek explanation of difficult matters in your department, directly of you, instead of "asking Fred", as mature heads are required to bear the responsibility.

Please observe the accompanying order for Mr Marsh.

Very truly yours

A.J. Coolidge Sec.y

Wm C. Lears Esq

Dear Sir,

I have just recd the reply of the Committee on Lots in answer to the inquiry for what sum the Corporation will assume the Perpetual Care of Lot no. 3324.

The amount they name is six hundred and fifty dollars ($650) -- which is less than I expected.

If you will call in the afternoon of almost any day, it will be a little better time for you, as we shall be less likely to be interrupted by calls. --

Yours truly

Capt D.L. Winsor

Dear Sir,

Please let Fred [?] over the order books since Jany. of this year, and see where the proprietors have ordered the fences to be painted, and give me a list of them. There cannot be many. I wish to correct the list of dilapidated lots, on which I am just sending the proprietors notice. As it cannot take him half an hour to do this, I should like to have him do it tomorrow. -

I have a list of those orders to be done by outsiders. Let him send me those, ordered of the Corporation and my list will be complete.

Truly Yours

A.J. Coolidge

Please inform me what Mr Safford handed me. Daniel D Fuller's certificate fee? Is it for anything, besides to make his deed? - dated

J. C. Converse Esq

Dear Sir,

Enclosed you have the contract made between Mr Poor and our Corporation for the perpetual care of lot no. 726 in this Cemetery, which has been duly recorded.

At your convenience, please [?] me $5. for preparing papers & getting execution & recording.

Very Respy

Capt Winsor

Dear Sir,

Please report Saturday on lot of Jesse Holbrook no [2697] Central Av. - almost opposite the Bowditch statue. He says his angel cost only [$10?] at auction, but the marble men would make it for less than $1000 perhaps more.

Will you let Fred. look [after?] these points for me.

See if there is any headstone or [mor?] lot of Jos. H. Thayer, 221 Willow Av. gives date & place of ^his death, if so what is [?]

Look at precisely same questions on Lot 503 Willow Ave. -- Thomas [Haven]

The same question too on lot 798 Elm Av -- Shepherd H. Norris?

All these were proprietors, and said to have died, but the records do [not?] show their death.

Truly yours

A.J. Coolidge

John Woods Esq

Dear Sir,

I believe you have not yet paid the $300 bequeathed to our Corporation by the late Harriet N. Whitney for the repair of the lot belonging to her & yourself -- no 2144.

The Corporation is ready to receive said sum and apply it to the purpose indicated.

Respectfully yours

Capt Winsor,

Dear Sir,

Since "Fred" was here this afternoon it has occurred to me that I shall be alone tomorrow & perhaps the next day, and that he can do me a good deal of good by coming in tomorrow. I am not quite ready to proceed regularly with what I wish of him, but can give him enough to do for a day or two.

I only wish him for Corporation work. My understanding is that you lend him for that purpose, & return him on the pay roll as heretofore, to which I understand he makes no objection.

It is immaterial to me whether you supply him with tickets, or whether I do. Please say which you prefer.

Yours truly

A.J. Coolidge

Henry Kennard Esq

Dear Sir,

The proper examination and report upon your lot no. 869 have been made, and the Comee on Lots having considered the matter, have directed me to inform you that the Corporation will assume the perpetual care of your lot, with guaranty for three hundred and fifty dollars.

Very truly yours

A.J. Coolidge Secretary
