Joseph Fox Esq

Dear Sir,

My attention has been called to the fact that the By-laws (page 28 Article XII.) are uniform in their provisions which require that all persons who perform work for Proprietors shall have a permit from Proprietor who so employs him.

I think it is the wish of our Trustees that provision shall be strictly carried out, and would notify now that I think a permit will be required of you for each lot for which you may have an order for care or other work for the coming season.

Several of the large stone-dealers have procured a general permit on giving the proper bonds; and it is possible that some such arrangement will be practicable in your case, accompanied with a return from you of a

On Thursday , Decoration Day. you will admit only Proprietors with vehicles, and you will respect passes for vehicles issued by the "John A. Andrew Post" G.A.R. to the extent of 30 (thirty) and no more. Please collect these passes & return to me. Vehicles in the procession will be allowed to enter, also persons on foot without passes.

Dear Sir

I must respectfully request you on Saturday afternoons & on the afternoons before all holidays, to place no cut grass or other refuse piles in the Avenues or Paths, as it is to late to remove them. I have no doubt you will see the propriety of such an order, and shall hope you will see that your men observe it.

Joseph Fox Esq

Dear Sir

Your permit for "Gardening Work" does not cover grading, sodding, curbing or work of any kind on the lots, not strictly gardening.

I am directed by the Board of Trustees to require a special permit for every lot on which you do any work not covered by your Permit for Gardening and you are respectfuly requested to provide yourself with said permits & hand them to the Engineer at the East Gate.

Your teamster came today with sods without any such permit, but rather than cause any inconvenience he was admitted without one.

Please see, however, that they are provided & handed to the Engineer in all future cases.

Respectfuly J.W. Lovering Supt.
