Gentleman, The undersigned hereby proposes to build and erection in place ready for occupying in Seattle, WT. Two jail cells and corridor in exact accordance with plan and specifications herewith submitted except as to material substituting ordinary steel jail plate and bars instead of Brooklyn Chrome steel, for the sum of seventeen hundred and seventy five dollars $1775. We further stipulate to deduct from either of our bids fifty dollars $50, if water tank is not wanted and a like such if sink and closet apparatus are left over. Two steel jail cells and corridor in exact accordance with specifications and plans herewith submitted. The steel plates and bars used to be chrome 5 ply steel, the product of the Brooklyn NY Chrome Steel Co. the same to be guaranteed, drill file and saw proof, and subject to test. I enclose herewith a modified bid for the work as stated. Please favor me by submitting this to the Council when the bids are opened. I will gladly pay you for any trouble you take in this matter. Gentlemen I have just learned that the sizes of jail selected by you differ from those specified by me in the bid which I sent you on the 14th and that you desire cells etc made entirely of 3-8 inch steel. I there fore propose to build you two cells each seven high wide and deep with corridor fourteen feet long by five feet wide and seven feet high, made as per my specifications but substituting steel plates three eights of an inch thick, for those specified to be one fourth inch thick, for the sum of Twenty four hundred dollars, $2400. Or made the above size, but as specified by me in my bid of 14th inst Twenty one hundred dollars, $2100.

I have not been informed that a deposit of coin or certified check is required to accompany the bids, but will state that if such is the case, I will, if my bid and specifications are oth otherwise satisfactory, immediately upon notification of same and the amount required, telegraph same to you.
