Gentlemen
I have just learned that the sizes of jail selected by you dif-
fer from those specified by me in the bid which I sent you on the 14th
and that you desire cells etc made entirely of 3-8 inch steel.
I there fore propose to build you two cells each seven high
wide and deep with corridor fourteen feet long by five feet wide and
seven feet high, made as per my specifications but substituting steel
plates three eights of an inch thick, for those specified to be one
fourth inch thick, for the sum of Twenty four hundred dollars, $2400.
Or made the above size, but as specified by me in my bid of 14th inst
Twenty one hundred dollars, $2100.

I have not been informed that a deposit of coin
or certified check is required to accompany the bids, but will state
that if such is the case, I will, if my bid and specifications are oth
otherwise satisfactory, immediately upon notification of same and the
amount required, telegraph same to you.
