Sir G Strickland Bart Miss Boynton 9 June 1856 The Venerable Archdeacon Cregke,Belford Title Deeds of Mr Harrington Hudson of Bessingby Hall 9 June 1856 Walter Strickland Esqr.Flamboro 19 June 1856 Sydney Taylor Esqr Bridlington Quay Title Deeds of the Chief Lord of Bridlington Manor Copy of this sent to the above named Gentleman Sir Custom House London 5 June 1856 I beg to inform you that I propose visiting your District shortly for the purpose of prosecuting an Inquiry undertaken by this Department under directions from the Board of Trade into the Titles of Lords of Manors and other persons, to unclaimed wreck. The object of the inquiry being to ascertain by the best available evidence the foundation upon which those Titles rest, and to secure to legitimate claimants the enjoyment of their rights, you would contribute much towards its accom-plishment by addressing letters to the Lords of Manors so claiming &c in your district explanatory of the purport of the pending enquiry and requesting them either to produce their Deeds for my Inspection , or in the event as is often the case of those Deeds being in the possession of their Solicitors or Agents to authorize the production of them for my perusal - I will take care to give you due notice of the day when I shall be prepared to do so. Lt. Poynter R N Patrington 12 June 1856 Sir I beg to acquaint you that the Wreck of the "Branford"lies on the sand at Patrington Channel Horse - in about five fathoms of Water - and as several Wreckers have of late being takeing her cargo - which consists of Rail Road Iron - without conveying the same to the Receiver of Wrecks for the district I have to request that you will not allow any men to work at the said Wreck in future without a written authority from Mr Saxelbye or myself. Lt. Stokes R N Liveley [R.C.?]Grimsby Dr. Sir 12 June 1856 Since I saw you this morning I have demmed it necessary to write to Lt. Poynter of Patrington not to allow any one to work at the Wreck of the "Branford" in Patrington Bay, without a written permission from Mr Saxelbye the Receiver of Wreck for the district or myself.- I have also directed that a Buoy be placed over the Wreck.

Metcalfe R.N. 14 June/56 D Sir I had a letter yesterday corresponding with that you mention - I go to Town to day by the 4/p m Train, when I return I shall for my Wreck quarter accounts require a Receipt from you for the few unsold Anchors & that remain in the Admiralty Yard. The account prepared by your man Warden is excellent and will be of use to me as a check - when I get Mr Allisons account. He must be your Successors Secretary I am sure - were it in my power I should be happy to serve him - My best regards & thanks to the Ladies for their Kindness and beleive me truly yours J.S. Be so good as to inform me whether I am to follow that sale,& instruct me, the proportion to be paid to Salvors out of the respective Sales above stated. J.S. Stewart to which you will have to add proceeds of sale of No 112 paid by Mr Barron to your late father - also proceeds of 124 - which L-' Shacklock informs me was sold by your father as Lot No 17 in 1855 for 14/11 - Be so good as to give me a detail of the [?] against which the £5:3:0 should have been charged - as I have paid all the Salvages without taking that sum into account as I was not aware of those charges being against them I must however endeavour to obtain the return of some - if I cannot get all Be so good as to write on this paper and return it as otherwise- I lose the thread of the subject The Commission on all the lots of wreck left by your father Viz: Anchors & c at Bridlington and wreck along the Coast - except for the lots in the list you have amounts to £12:17:5 JS Marginalia: S
