This arrangement in my opinion would be fair for each {time} man. J. S. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vessel "Capital" 27th Octbr 1859 Dear Sir, I have just received a Report from the Coast that the Sloop "Capital" of your Port_ Samuel Boswer - Master - with a Cargo of Fire Bricks has been wrecked between Withernsea and Holmpton - and all hands lost. A young woman has been washed on shore. The wreck took place on the night of the 25th Inst Another report gives the Master's name Wilson. Be so good as to apprize the parties. Postscript Truly yours. I have just received a parcel from the J. S. [C G?] off of C Guard at Patrington contg 2 Tin Boxes and sundry Books and papers belonging to the "Capital" Capt Dowser. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vessel "Stockton" (a Boat.) -The "Dowthorpe" _ the Ship_ to which Mr Bec - late mate of the "North Sea" belonged _ did not arrive till late on the 7 Sept and reported the 8th consquently on con-sulting with the Stipendiary Magistrate - he re-commended that fresh summonses issue for the 13th the day Capt Harris_ who in the mean time had been communicated with_ had named for the hearing I have paid Geo Spetch £3-17-8 which was form the 9 Inclusive, _ Whereas I should have paid him 6 days more Viz 6 days at 30s/_ per week------------------------- £1-5-8 Thos Steele 6 days at 25s/_ ------------------------ £1-1-7 I will therefore thank you to obtain an Order for payment of those sums_ amounting together to £11-19-3 -------------- I, am Sir, &c J. J.S. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Vessel "Capital" 31/12/59 Similar letter to Lt Poynter R.N. resptg Vessel "Capital" J.S ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vessel "Amalthea" 31/12/59 Dear Mr Milne Enquire of the Agent of the "Amalthea" whether the articles belong to that ship, - if the parts of Masts [do?] belong to her - all the other must belong to her also Therefore if he will pay Travelling 2s/6d and 4s/_ Cartage and give the Salvors something for the goods_ let him have the proceeds of sale. In all cases where there is not an owner, I give the best salvage I can, _ But where there is an Owner Salvors should settle with him.
