Mary Quayle Innis Diary 1964-1968

December 25

1964. Fri. Christmas opened gifts, "Genesis", "Toronto - No Mean City", bath mat etc. Took walk. Lovely turkey dinner.

1965. Sat. Lovely day. Pictures of children, necklace, towels, apron, slides of Greece. Cooked turkey - Stanton came. Played Guggenheim. Heavy snow.

1966. Sun. Lovely Xmas at Hugh's (Daggs to Bermuda) Opened gifts, cooked turkey, Paul playing with transport truck.

1967. Mon. a beautiful Christmas at Hugh's. Very cold - all went for a walk. Opened gifts, turkey & mince pie. Read new books - Oxford Literary Companion etc.

1968. Wed. lovely Christmas. zero. children excited. I got wine, cake, apron, towels, Sat. Nite etc. etc. Lovely dinner at John & Daintry Snider's.

December 26

1964. Sat. Mild & dull. Baked butter tarts. R. Stanton came for dinner - very good evening.

1965. Sun. Sun & snow. Boys & I made cut-out cookies. Fed & bathed Mary. Daggs to University. Lovely peaceful day.

1966. Mon. Cold. Hugh & Paul brought me home about 11. Straightened house, read & rested.

1967. Tues. sunshine. Hugh brought me home. Donald called up. He, Mary & John came for dinner. All to Hugh's. very cold.

1968. Thu. Hugh et al came. Cold. Walked in park, men & children sliding on saucers & toboggan. Turkey dinner. Played with toys. Saw Jonathan Winter on TV.

December 27

1964. Sun. Colder. Ian & I to church. Hugh's cold bad. Read & played Lex. Anne & I to church in evening.

1965. Mon. Read to & played with boys. Fed & bathed Mary. Cold. Donald called up.

1966. Tues. Shopped. Donald, Mary & John came for lunch. All shopped. They to Birchcliffe. Arranged beds etc.

1967. Wed. Donald, M. & J. dountoun. I to bank & post office. Cold. Letter from Anne. D, Mary, John & I to see "Dr. Dolittle".

1968. Fri. Bay & I went shopping. Made Mary's green velvet dress. Saw Apollo 8 astronauts land in Pacific. Saw "Cat Ballou" on TV.

December 28

1964. Mon. to store & library. Anne interviewed for Record. A. & Ian off to N.Y. for TV. Hugh very sick. Cold.

1965. Tues. Took Bay to school & called for him. Bathed Mary. Anne & Ian at badminton.

1966. Wed. Shopped in car & I made curry & Indian dinner. Gave it at Lorraine's, Nancy & Doug there. D. showed Indian pictures. Heavy snow.

1967. Thu. Letter from Mary. John & I shopped. D. & children out in afternoon. Cold. D. & children to "Charlie Brown."

1968. Sat. Made Mary's broun velvet dress. Baked shoo-fly pie & Anne baked marble cake. Deep snow

December 29

1964. Tues. Sharon B. came & I took Bay to store. Phoned Dr. Hugh coughing badly.

1965. Wed. Donald, Mary & John came. played games, made puzzles, John made stegosaurus - great fun.

1966. Thu. Children walked dog. John sorted stamps & Mary did home work. They to ballet. Back for supper & to bed early.

1967. Fri. Cold. Shopped. Donald & children to ballet. I vacuumed & wrote letters. Children to museum. D. had man here for tea.

1968. Sun. To Sunday School - all of us. Sun, deep snow. Very cold. I came back - train late & v. crowded.
