July 14 First place where I have seen private entrance for ladies. Hotel beautifully clean, well furnished, modern plumbing, a first rate house. Servants smiling & obliging. Great contrast to those at Calgary & [?th] Arthur. We have nice room with bath, & small room communicatg. As nice as any one could wish. Walked about a little, & astonished at evidences of wealth & business in this far north town. Had a good dinner & I wrote to Duncan.
