Text of Petition: 17-1-1803-5 To the Honorable the General Assembley of the State of Tennessee~ We your humble Petitioners of the County of Green in said State humbly sheweth that we think Our Selvs and the Citisens of Our County Aforesaid Agreved by some of the Conduct of the Court of Our said County which Court Comenced on Munday the 24th Day of Ianu =erey in the year of Our Lord 1803 at Greeneville, Which Grevence is as folowes, to Wit that on the Second Day of the term it being the 25 Day of Januerey aforesaid the Court Maid an Order that there shold be the sum of Sixty Dolers of Our Counties Money Apropriated to the Use of hiring a County Solicitor to Act as sutch in Our said Court for One year Over and Above All his Lawfull fees, and so proceded to Lay the tax for said year as high as the Law Wold permit them, and for the proof of Our Ascartion We Apeal to the Records of said Court ~ Now if you in your Great Wisdom Wold Direct Some Other Systom for the Government of Our County so that we may be Remedied against sutch inju= =ries and Affix A plan Whereby Our Publick Good might be in more safty and the Rites of the People Not Violated Your Petitioners as in Deuty bound shall Ever Pray ~

Text of Petition: To the Honourable the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee - The Petition of Sundry Citizens of the County of Clairborne Humbly sheweth that they Wish a law to be passed Asstablishing the Public Buildings in the Town of Tazewell in said County, Which in their Opinion will greatly Lend to the pease and quiet of a number of The Inhabitants of said County as a number of them have Purchased lots in said Town And are Improving the same, Your Petitioners Further State that the Court House is nearly Finished and the Prison and Stocks fully Compleated,, Which Buildings cost Between Twelve and fifteen Hundred Dollars, and that The sale of the lots in said Town of Tazewell amounte to upwards of One Thousand Dollars,, In Consideration of Which Your Petitioners pray And as in duty bounde will Ever pray - - Signed -
