January 1st 1864

Jan 1st. Boys cleaned up some oats and most of the time after that spent in the woods getting wood on the 13th I took a load of had to town 29,00 lbs got $2.05 per hundred from Geo Barker. Jan 15th Took some Cattle down that I got from William Stabler & A S Moore Jan 20th Took a load of hay 2800lbs got £200 from a hackman. Jan 26th Got Richard Tucker to come and fix sideboard to hay carriage and also new racks Thursday commenced to Tilow for corn

Feb 3rd Wednesday

Went to town with 70 boxes of oats walnuts and a calf. Got 8 cents a box for oats and $1.00 for walnuts and 4 cents per pound (lb) for calf weighed 98 lbs. Feb. 4th Brought up 25 hundred bones to Geo. Brooke's left the wagon there went after it next day and got a ton on bone dust at £40.00 per ton, he paying $4.00 a ton for hauling bones. Feb 6th. Went to Oakland and got 90 bu. feed at 30c per bu. 2nd 3rd and 4th days following. Thursday 11th too cold to plow went to Fulford and hauled 15 saw logs to Geo Brookes mill took two days

Feb 13th. Hauled up some rails that Bowen had Mauled. Feb 15th. Monday and Tuesday plowed 16th. Sod ground showed home on 17th. Tuesday, boys in the woods. 18th. Wednesday very cold threshed clover 19th. Seed, Thursday thermometer at zero, hulled seed Friday Farmed land 2 bu. only Saturday set Geo. to sewing seed sewed nearly a bu. P started to Laurel at 11 O' Clock to go to Bale a day or two, came up in the stage 22nd. on second day. Just on a load of hay, took to town Got a horse from Uncle Joshua took 3615 lbs sold to Parker @ $1.70 per hand brought up 4 hundred Coal for C Hucker @ $7.14 each load

Feb 25th Thursday. Went to Breadysdale boys picked up stone, Friday & Saturday hauled stone off the corn table ground. Poplar tree field. Sunday went visiting, Monday went to 29th. plowing for oats Geo Hauled out posts and rails for fence. March 1st Tuesday Snowed about 5 inches P. worked in the shop boys threshed corn, Wednesday I worked in the Shop, lent Geo. to the Laurel for 1000lbs Guano, went in Jas. Hollowell's Spring Wagon Thursday past on a load of hay Got one of Bill Cowens horses took 3400 lbs sold to E. E. White at $2.00 per hand.
