Ther. 35° Clear. Wind. S.E.
Thursday Dec. 30,th 1897.

Considerably warmer today.
I went to the mill & to the P.O.
Afternoon Hallie Bentley called.
Dora & Edward went to "Fairfield"
to tea & to spend the night. they
took Frank Robison with them
all expecting to attend a concert
given by "The"Atwood Family" at
the Grange Hall at "Crow Town"
tonight Frank R. expecting to
go home from the concert with
Mrs Janney's people, and stay
there tonight. I left my proxy
with A. F. Fairall today, to be
voted by B. D. Palmer in case I
do not attend the Annual
Meeting of the Insurance Co.
to be held in a few days.

After dark I walked up to the P.O.
and mailed a letter to Charley from
his mother. Sarah Dent Thornton & her
daughter Annie were here about 8.o'clk pm
for advice & medicine for the latter.

Ther. 38° Cloudy & Rain. Wind. E. & S.E.
Friday Dec. 31,st 1897.

Rainy disagreeable morning. Dora
& Edwd came home from "Fairfield"
about 9-45 a.m. Bought beef skin from
Cuff's wagon. I walked to Ashton and
rode back with Wallice Bond as he
went home to dinner. Afternoon Lizzie
Scott called to see Dora and brought
us some nice saussage & scrapple.

About 4-30.o'clk the wind changed
to West & N.W. and blew hard clearing
off most of the clouds & making
it colder. The roads are muddy
& sloppy, but do not break through
in many places, the ground being
frozen underneath. The past year
seems to me to have flown past more
rapidly than any previous one in
my lifetime: it seems a very short
time since I commenced writing in
this diary, and this is its last page!
