Ther. 32° Cloudy Wind. N.E. Friday, Jan. 1,st 1897
Dull & cloudy with raw wind. Heavy white frost early in the morning but thawing later in the day. I was about the house all day except going to the mill, store, & P.O. Afternoon Edwd rode up to "Fairfield" & brought the phaeton home. Willie has been using it for some time past but having purchased a "Jagger" from Fanny Tillum he no longer needs it. After supper Dr. Agustus Stabler called & spent the evening here.
