Ther. 16° Clear & Cloudy. Wind. N.W.
Friday Dec. 24, 1897.

This was the coldest day we
have had this winter so far.
the wind blew a gale all last
night and most of today.
Willie called here before dinner
Dr Brooke also called at the
office porch to enquire about
some rugs &c Willie is making
for them. I went up to the mill
Afternoon Edwd. drove over
to "Riverside" for evergreens
&c, and home just at dark.
The wind blowing so hard has
taken the warmth away from
the houses, and we feel the
cold more than we would
if it were calm. We were
fortunate in having a turkey
presented to us after having bought
one, besides a large muscovy duck
so we have plent of poultry for
our "Christmas". I hope we are
thankful for our many blessings.

Ther. Clear. Wind. S.
Saturday Dec. 25, 1897.

A bright, clear, frosty Christmas
day. Dora & Edwd dressed up a
"Christmas tree" in the parlor for
the baby Dora. Willie & Fanny
with the baby came about 2.o'clk
and we had dinner at 6. There
were many little Christmas gifts
passed amongst us, none of them
expensive, but expressed the good
feeling quite as well, without the
after regrets that sometime follow
more expensive ones. After dark
Willie & Fanny & Edward went
to a concert at the Lyceum.
After they had been gone about
an hour the baby waked up with
a bad spell of colic & I wen[t] over
to the Lyceum & brought Fanny
back but fortunately the baby had
become quiet & easier.
