Ther. 32. Cloudy & Mist. Wind. S.E. & S.W.
Wednesday Dec. 22,d 1897.

Disagreeable weather. sloppy & muddy
under foot. Cloudy & misty overhead.
I walked to Ashton & back. Edwd
drove to "Fairfield" & back to dinner
I took a book I had borrowed from
the School library back to the school
after dinner. I was sent for & rode
up to the "Anchorage" to see George
Matthews, who had an ugly fall
from a load of straw; he is badly
bruised & "shaken up" but I hope
not very seriously injured. he
will be unable to do anything
for some time I fear.

Mrs Ellicott sent for Dora &
brought her home again this afternoon.
I saw Sister Lizzie & Ernest
at Ashton, who report Bro Charley
to have had a good nights sleep
last night and was feeling much
better than usual this morning
being free from pain of any kind.

Ther. 30° Clear & Cloudy. Wind. N.W.
Thursday Dec. 23, 1897.

Colder this morning. I went up
to the store & P.O. twice. Afternoon
Edwd drove Edwd Bentleys horse
& phaeton to Kensington to meet
Mary Bentley (coming home to spend
the holidays) and took one of the
young Leadbeater boys down
with him who is also going home
for Christmas. I rode to Ashton
with Walace Bond & back with
A. G. Thomas. Chas H Brooke
called & left us a dressed turkey
(a present from Eliza Moore)
Edwd reached home about five
o'clock. Alcinda Thomas and her
husband were both here at different
times to see about getting a carpet
Willie has left here for them whenever
they brought the money to pay
for it, which not being forthcoming
they did not get it.
