Hazy & Clearing
Ther. 70 Thursday AUG 9th 1894 VariableWind.

Very close & warm. I suffered
more with the heat last night than
any night we have had this summer.
I rode down to Ashton on horseback
before dinner. Afternoon Edwd and
Frank Robison went to Riverside
in the phaeton for a "swim & bath"
& home to supper. Alice & Fanny Peirce
& Lucy Kummer spent the afternoon
& took tea here. After supper I
walked up to the store to take the
milk can. I (with the other Trustees
of the Sandy Spring Public School)
filled out & forwarded the appointment
of Miss Ella M Henderson, as
teacher.

Cloudy
Ther. 68 Friday 10th NEWind
There was a fearful cyclone & hail &
thunder storm at Purcellville yesterday
afternoon & several lives lost besides many
persons seriously injured. We are anxious to
hear from our two sons who are there, it
has produced a great change in temperature
here since this morning. Edwd rode
to the Cottage & to the Bone Mill & back
before dinner. After supper he rode to
A.S. Thoma's to a "dance club" meeting.
I went up to the P.O. twice to day.
