After early breakfast Willie
took me to Laurel where I took
the cars for Balto: & crossing the
city to "Union Station" I left via the
"New York Express" soon after 11 o'clk am.
arriving in N.Y. at 3-8 p.m. walked to
17 Park Place, thence to "Currier's" on
Fulton St: where I was kindly met by
Mrs Borden & Miss "Frankie" Sherman (her
daughter). T H Borden came soon after
& I went with him to his business place
& then to the "Astor House" & back to
"Currier's" to dinner a 6.o'clk. after
which we went again to Astor House.
looked at them playing "billards" until
I was tired when we went back to
Currier's & after talking over old
California times went to bed, in
some trepidation as to fire, so high
up was our rooms & confusing the
passages & stair cases etc.

Had a scare, after retiring, by the
false alarm of fire from th electric
fire alarm being set off by
accident near my bed room door
in the hall or passage. almost
