Ordered, That whereas the present Council Chamber
is not well adapted to the purpose intended and to the
health of the members - that the Committee on City PRoperty
be instructed at once to consider and report on some
more commodious Council Chamber at the next meeting
of the Council

The Chairman from the Committee on Streets and
Improvements brought up a Report (Number 770 Book D No 2)
which was read

Ald Gaskin moves seconded by Ald Wilson
That the report of the Committee on Streets &c be
received and adopted.

In amendment 1st
Ald Snook moves seconded by Ald Allen
That the clause in the report referring to Mr
Matthews be amended so as to read that he pay no frontage

In amendment 2nd
Ald McGuire moves seconded by Ald Pense
That the report of the Committee on Streets be
amended by substituting for the paragraph as to Powers
petition - that Powers be charged for fifty feet of frontage
at the price fixed in the present frontage By Law namely
60 cents a foot and that he be repaid any excess he has
paid - which being put was lost - the first amendment
being put was carried Yeas 10 Nays 8 and the report
was adopted as amended

Ald McGuire moves seconded by Ald Pense
That the vote on the amendment to the report Re
Powers be reconsidered and that the amendment be carried
which being put was lost Yeas 6 Nays 12

The Chairman from the Committee on Streets and
Improvements brought up a Report (Number 771 Book D
No 2) which was read and adopted

Ald McIntyre moves seconded by Ald Snook
That this Council do now reconsider the resolution
of the Council passed on the 9th February last abolishing
the Office of City Commissioner

In amendment
Ald CF Gildersleeve moves seconded by Ald Dupuis
That Ald McIntyre's resolution of reconsideration
as to the City Commissioner be not considered at this meeting
which being put was lost as was also the orginal
motion Yeas 1 Nays 17

The Chairman from the Committee on Fire, Water
and Gas brought up a Report which was read

Ald Snook moves seconded by Ald Anglin
That the report of the Committee on Fire, Water
and Gas be adopted
