¶ Questo pianeto si fa contemplanti
E pensativi e casti e ben astuti

[rubric: Marte.]

¶ Seguita drieto a lui l'ardente Marte
Suo figlio di natura sanguinoso
In vista rubicondo e le sue arte
Sum d'essere irativo e furioso

E se voglion pigliar la miglior parte
De virtu e di forteça hano grande arte

Translation

[rubric: Saturn}

¶ This planet makes one [people? or 'is made of the'?] contemplative,
And thoughtful, and chaste, and very astute;
Keen intellect have they all.
They do good by being harsh towards evil.
Who is one of them is seen in their appearance,
And that more than others they are very prudent:
Its name comes from the man that was born in Crete
And had the [same?] nature as the planet

[rubric: Jupiter]

¶ Of him [ie Saturn] was born the magnanimous Jupiter
From whom the ancients took the lofty name
Of the second planet that moves
In its splendid sphere like
Clear crystal, and that in every way
Has dominion [con parte=comparte?] with the appearance of total justice [?]
It is temperate and gives itself authority
Through power and magnificence

[rubric: Mars.]

¶ Following behind him, the fiery Mars
His son with the bloody nature,
Ruddy faced, and his arts
Are to be wrathful and furious.
His followers like to be spread out [spill?]
The enemies of laziness and repose
And if they want to grab the better part
Of virtue and strength, they have great skill
