Types 9: 165 G, 12:64 (71^a G, 14: 130G, 18:83G. 19:71G; columns variable, 64 lines + headlines. initial spaces, some c printed guides.

First ed. of Bonaventure's commentary on Lombard's Sentences, issued in separate volumes for each book of the Sentences. A final volume of tables compiled by the editor, Beckenhub is often treated as vol. V, but is probably a separate later publication. Beckhub was a native of Mainz who studied at Heidelberg Koberger did not print a colophon in this ed. of Bonaventure on the Sentences, but he is named as printer by Beckenhub in a prefatory letter, addressed to Nicolaus Tinctoris, theologian in Bamberg.

Peter Lombard's "Sentences" is the most important theological work of the 12th C. Topically arranged. The work summaries past learning about Christian doctrine past learning about Christian doctrine by quoting authories (these are the "sentences" that give the book its name) and attempting to resolve textual disagreements by dialectical analysis. As a source collection that continued to spark discussion, the "Sentences" enjoyed great success as the theological text book until the 17th C + inspired numerous commentaries including those of Aquinas + Luther.
