1 gal tomato juice 2 tablespoon salt 2 " " mustard 1 pint vinegar 1 1/2 cups sugar
Put 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon + allspice 1 tablespoon black pepper cloves + nutmeg in a bag. and boil in it. Boil 'till thick and seal. add cayenne pepper if desired.

Ginger Pears
4 lbs sliced pears 3 lbs sugar 2 oz ginger root 2 lemons
Slice the pears thin - (green ones) cover with the sugar + let stand for several hours - place over slow fire - cook slowly.

Ginger Pears
8 lbs pears 4 lbs sugar 1/4 lbs ginger root cut in small pieces 3 lemons
[Ripe?] pears remove stems, quarter and core, slice in thin slices. Add the sugar + ginger let them stand overnight closely covered. In morning add lemons thinly cut + cook very slowly for two hours.

Beat all together
2 tablespoons dry cocoa 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1 cup sour milk 1 teaspoon soda 2 cups flour

1 cups sugar 1/2 " molasses 1 " butter 1 cup strong coffee 3/4 " nutmeg 3/4 " cinnamon 2 " baking powder 3/4 lbs raisins 1 cup nut meats 4 eggs 3 cups flour dredge the fruit with part of flour vanilla 1 tsp Bake 40 to 50 minutes
