Fort Worth, Texas, August 5th. 1904.

To the City Council of Fort Worth, Texas.

I DeWitt Jones, respectfully give notice of and hereby present my claim for damages against the City of Fort Worth, Texas, in the sum of $5.00, which claim arose as follows:

That on the 20th. day of July 1904, between 9:30 and 10 o'clock P.M., I being in the messenger service in this city had occasion to leave my bicycle in front of the Panther saloon on Houston street, that while it was there and during my temporary absence, the City street sweeper came along and caught it and broke and injured it to such an extent that I was compelled to agree to pay out the sum of Five Dollars for repairs thereon. That said repairs are being made by Price Nowell and the sum of Five Dollars is a reasonable price for the said repairs.

Petitioner asks that the City reimburse him for the said amount of Five Dollars, and asks that the Honorable City Council consider his claim and make allowance for said sum forthwith.

Very respectfully submitted by

DeWitt Jones

Orrick_ This wheel was left on street at night. The sweeper came along & injured it. Is peff entitled to recover?
