To make Cynnamon water

Take 5 Gallons of Sack one pound & a half of Cynnamon bruised, halfe and ounce of Cloves, steepe this all knight, & in the morning set your pot on with a soft fire, after it is stilled take one quart of the water & a quarter of a pound of Leafe Sugar finely beaten & that will make it plesant

A Drink ot give a Woman that hath a dead Child within her

Take a handfull of Ditander seeds pound it & straine it into a little Sack, Beer, or Ale, & if you have noe Ditander, take as much Looedgs[?] seethe it and straine it & Let her drink it

To give a woman with Child if her Child be weak & she cannot feele it

Let her take 4 or 5 drops of the extract of Amber, in a litte Sack to drink proved, I a moan have taken any hurt, or by reching that she have the Flux come downs, or a lust or structing hersellf in time, she may take the extract above said. This may be taken in time of Trav[?]ll to helpe forward the Birth

To make a very good Oyntment for any bruises that the skin is not broken or cold Ache or swelling

Take half a pd of Wormwood, & half a pd of Bay=leavs, & a pd of Rue & a pd of Sage, but you must beat your Bayleavs by themselfs you must cut them very small first, then you must take 3 pd of mutton suet all of the kidnies & picke the skin very clean fro it then take your herbes & beate them very small together, then take your Mutton suet all of being bruised & mingled with your hearbs, then take your suet & your hearbes, & beat them altogether till no suet be seen then take a potle of very sweet Oyle then mingle it altogether with your hands in the Oyle then put it into an earthen pott & stop it very close 9 or 10 dyas then take it & put it into a brass pan or pott & boyle it over a soft fire for an houre or more til it look green ^ clear the greener the better then take a new piece of Canvas, & betwixt two wrings it out, & then put it into an earthen pott, & so you may keep the longer you keep it the better you must make it in May:

A Purge for a Sicke Body or a Woman with Child

Take one Ounce of & a half of, Manna, & a quarter of a pint of Succory water & warme it do litle together untill it is disolved, then put to it 2 Ounces of Sirup of Roses, & give it the party to drink, & let them keepe themselves warme & drink Brothow posset drinke. you may give one Ounce of Manna to a Child, & one Ounce of Sirup or Roses in a quarter of pint of Succory water or Sorrell water you must straine the Manna when tis dissov'd

To make an easy Clystew for a childe ot one that is weak

Take one pint of milk, & lett it boyle then take a little vinegar, & turn the milk & take away the curd, add to it 2 ounces of sugar & one fram of salt, & give this as Clyster, you may do this without danger

Anotherer Clyster

Take a chicken & boyle it in faire water then take it

Mrs. Coffins Oyntment forthe Piles

Take a pound of may butter & putt into it a quarter of a pound of Figgs, cutt into small pieces one pennyworth of Liquorish one pennyworth of Anniseeds, a quater of a pound of Raisons of the sun, then boyle it up with young Elder budds soe it & keep it for your use

To Make a Chinah Broath

Take a Potte of faire running water & a halfe an Ounce of Chinah Roots sliced very thin lett them infuse two or three hours & scum it cleane then straine it take this Liquor & sett it one the first with a knockle of veale Chop to pieces & a chicken if you please two or three Pippens pared & sliced Burrage flowers & violetts of each a handfull, seethe all these together to the halfs then straine it in a Bason & take two or three spoonfulls at a time

To Make a Purge & a Vomit Mone

Take a Lemon & cut of the top of it then take out all the meat of it then take thee weight of three penee in Saffron & putt into the rinde of the Lemon, then take the meat you took out & putt into the Lemon upon the Saffron, then take the top of the Lemon & close the Lemon fast, then wrap it into a paper & rest it in your embers, & when it is rosted soft, take & putt it into halfe a pinte of white=wine & lett it steep two hours then wringe it out & straine it & drink it & it will give you six or seven stools 4 or 5 vomits, this is for them that are faint at stomachs: This is to help digest= =ure:

To make a Glyster

Take a pint of Milk, add to it a spoonful of Anniseeds boyle it together a little while, then straine it out & put to it 3 spoonfulls of sallot Oyle & 3 spoonfulls of Suger, then beate the yolks of to Eggs, & mix it altogether & give it something warme as a Glister This I have tryed

To make another Glyster

Take a pint of Posset ale, add to it one handfull of camomel halfe a handfull of Mallows halfe a handfull of violet leaves, halfe an Ounce of Anniseeds, halfe an Ounce of Fennellseeds, boyle all these together then straine it out & add to it 2 Ounces of Suger & as much Salt as will lye upon a shilling & give this to such as are troubled with winde. this is proved

For the swelling of the Amons in the Throat,

Take Rosemary & dry it to pouder in a Mortar, then take the pouder of a white Dogs= turd & mix these two pouders together with hony spread it on pieces of Leather & lay it on both sides of the Throast as near the Amons as you can

To make the jelly of Hartshorne

Take one quart of faire water & 2 Ounces of Hartshorne, finely reasped boyle this together with a small branch of Rosemary & some Lemon rinde, & lett it boyle till the Liquor be halfe wasted, then straine it through a jelly bagg, & sweeten it will Suger, & a litle Rosewater & the juice of a Lemoon, & a litle Vinegar as you shall think good, you may boyle a litle piece of Cinnamon in it, the Cinnamon being first laid in Rosewater, & then boyle it altogether, a litle & straine it againe into glasses & soe use it at your need

For the Goute to be applyed as hot as you can suffer it

Take Froggs spawne water & ???? Ounces of Hawthorne 4 Ounces of Mullet water an Ounce of Mirke poudred a Drame of Oriental Saffron halfe a Dram of poudred Cikewife?? mix them [???] together & beathe the gri[??]ed part, & wrap the cloths about the part, Probatum est

Against exessive Vomiting

Take mint waterwith 2 or 3 dropps of Vitriol, [????] now & then & apply outwardly a plaistor of[ ???????] take also the juice of 2 Quinces or Quince unclear wine

For a Looseness

Apply upon the Belly a plaister of venus [?????] Bole Aemonacke the like quantity take [?ward] some dryed Hartsworne, in Sirup of dry'd Roses Corrall take all those for your ordinary drink steeled water wherein Corrall hartshorne [Tor????] =till Nutmeggs Pomegrante rinds & & the like be boyled

The virtue of this water

This water is of exceeding virtue in all sounding weaknesses of the heart & decaying of the spirits & is of great virtue in the Apoplexy, palsy, Epilepsye, also all pains of the Joynts comming comming of the Colds, in all bruises outwardly Bathe it, & lay clothes to it, the virtues of this water are more than man can conceious it strengthens the Animall vitall & naturall spirits, & cheers the externall Pences strengthens the Memory restores lost appetite all weakness of the stomach both taken inwardly & Bathed autwardly take a quarter of a spoonfull, & fast one hour after it, it takes away giddiness of the head, helpeth lost hearing bringsth a pleasant breath & thore can be no better remedye in Palsies & Apoplexy or both to help in the fitt & to prevent it if you take morning & evening a quarter of a spoonfull with crumes of Bread & Suger mingled in a Spoone it helpseth lost speech & helpeth all cold dispositition disposition of the liver & begining Dropsies it helpeth all cold

Another water of the same but of loss Price

Take a gallon Glass & fill it with Levonder flowers as above fill it up with Spirit of wine or Malmasie this digest Five wooks then distill your water & Oyle & Separate the Oyle, then digest in this water sage flowers Rose=mary flowers sweet margorom of each one handfull, [?????] motherwort Pyony roots, orgnum of each one Ounce, Cotomio flowers, Rose half an Ounce Poppy seeds hulled Cardamony cucubes citrons grille dried of each 2 Drams then put into them half a pound of Ininibos or Reasons of the stones taken out being digested 6 weeks straine this & drink it at your mood Probatum Est
