{7}The night and perfect way
of distilling all sorts of waters
simple or compounded, with
their oyles and how to separate
the one from the other

Take of your best anisseed . 2 pound being somewhat
bruised then adde thereunto of the best whit wine . 2 .
quarts, of muske in a peece of sarcenett to the ualue
of . 4 . grains, to be distilled with this water putting
all into the uessell, pasting the limbeck uery close,
then paste your receiuer that no steeme or fume come
forth then with a soft and carefull fier, and in the
name of God still it, and from this potte you shall
haue a quart with an ounce of your oyle of anisseed
which will be when you your water is forth within an houre,
separate the one from the other for it will congeale
to the liknesse of a peece of snow, this is most precious
to expell winde, and the water for your winde collick .

{8}To distill all sorts of hearbes
& to draw their oyle withall

Take fennell and cut it somewhat smale to the ualue
of halfe a peck and sett it in the uessell, then adde -
thereto of running water the purest you can gett
and fill the uessel therewith then lett ouer your
limbeck with past theron next your receiuer, that
no fume come forth thereat then with a souft fire
distill it, and there will come both water, & oyle, then
to separate the oyle from the water with a siluer
spoone take it from the top and reserue it for a precious
medicine against the menstru or termes, the water
will haue the smell taste and tincture of the fennell
and it is uery good against sore eyes and to coole
feauers
