from the N & W At 1 PM came on
board weighed anchor and proceded [PROCEEDED]
to sea. At 4 Do[?] passed Montock [MONTAUK]
Point. At 6 Do[?] the light [LIGHTHOUSE?] bore WNW
Dist. [DISTANCE] 8 miles from which I take my
departure. So ends this day
Longitude by Acc [ACCOUNT] 68..54 west Lattitude [LATITUDE] [BY] Obs [OBSERVATION] 39..38 North

Wednesday Oct 22 1834 All of these 24 hours moderate breezes from the NW and clear Steering SE by E Hands employed in fitting boats and doing other necessary jobs of ships duty So ends Saw a Brig steering to the SW Longitude by Chronometer 67.04 west Latt [LATITUDE] 38..43 N

Thursday Oct 23thd 1834 Commences with moderate breezes from the NW and clear Stearing [STEERING] SE Middle & latter hours the wind hauling to the SW attended with squalls of wind & rain Took in the Top Gallant sails and double reefed the Top sails. So ends this day. 3 men off duty Longitude by Acc [ACCOUNT] 65..10 W Sun obscure Latt [LATITUDE] by RD [DEAD RECKONING] 36.50 N
