Dist. [DISTANCE] 8 miles from which I take my
departure. So ends this day

Wednesday Oct 22 1834 All of these 24 hours moderate breezes from the NW and clear Steering SE by E Hands employed in fitting boats and doing other necessary jobs of ships duty So ends Saw a Brig steering to the SW Longitude by Chronometer 67.04 west Latt [LATITUDE] 38..43 N

Thursday Oct 23thd 1834 Commences with moderate breezes from the NW and clear Stearing [STEERING] SE Middle & latter hours the wind hauling to the SW attended with squalls of wind & rain Took in the Top Gallant sails and double reefed the Top sails. So ends this day. 3 men off duty Longitude by Acc [ACCOUNT] 65..10 W Sun obscure Latt [LATITUDE] by RD [DEAD RECKONING] 36.50 N

Friday Oct 24th 1834 Commences with pleasant gales The wind hauling [A]round to the NW Let the reefs out of the Top sails and set the Main Top Gallant sail & Main Royal. Hands employed in fitting cutting pendants & block strops. Saw a ship steering to the S & W So ends this day Longitude by Chronometer 63..50 west Lattitude [LATITUDE] [BY] Obs [OBSERVATION] 35 46 N
