Latter part the same. At 9 PM raised a shole [SHOAL] of Sperm whales. Loward [LOWERED] and chaist [CHASED] but without success. The whales was going fast to the Northard [NORTHWARD] and Eastard [EASTWARD]. Nothing nothing more worth of remark. Latitude by obs [OBSERVATION] 45 miles South Longitude by Cronometer [CHRONOMETER] 127°=00 West

At 6 PM tok [TOOK] in top gallant sails and reeft [REEFED] topsails. Had a shour [SHOWER] of rain. Middle part thick and hazy. Latter part shook out the reefs and set top gallant sails. Hands imployed [EMPLOYED] in seting [SETTING] up the fore stay and the fore riging [RIGGING]. Nothing more worth of remark. Latter part spok [SPOKE] ship Timoleion [TIMOLEON] of Newbedford [NEW BEDFORD] with 11 hundred barels [BARRELS], 21 months out. Had a gam. Stood each way through the night.
