Dear Sir:-

The sum needed for the perpetual care of your lot, including the sod and the cleaning but not the renewal of the monument and without plants or myrtle will be $350.00. For the two myrtle graves $50.00 will be needed, and if the cleaning but not the renewal of the two marble headstones is included $50.00 more will be required. If you propose to have the usual quantity of plants in the North border only, an additional sum of $100.00 will be needed, or if you wish to have the usual number of plants in the North and East borders, that is the border on Eagle ave. as well as that on Spruce ave., the additional amount needed will be $200.00. This provides for the amount of mixed plants that are usually set in such borders, but of course the planting can be made more elaborate if you care to go to the expense.

To recapitulate, the amounts are as under:

Perpetual care of grass and cleaning of monument $350.00
Two myrtle graves 50.00
Cleaning two Marble headstones 50.00
Usual plants in Spruce ave. border 100.00
Usual plants in Eagle ave. border (if wanted) 100.00
$650.00
Respectfully yours,

Supt.

tinuation of Heron Avenue is staked out between Eagle and Swan Aves. and Swan Ave. is not staked out from the Gate to the point (d), where it joins such extenstion, (both of which were oversight in staking out)

The Avenues are marked by Posts at prominent points and strong stakes, along the lines; those which bound Orn'l Grounds, being painted in Colors yellow or red, and those along the Avenues painted white.

At the time the first plan for stakinig out the Lot was made (In rectangular form, as in " Lithographed Plan of Cemetery" - 1867 - ) a number of Maple trees were planted along the proposed Aves., and these

pleasant drive as paths will take care of themselves; and any small irregular lots, left at corners of paths, or between regular square lots, will sell even more readily and profitably than the common square lots.

The leading idea in this plan is Eagle Ave to be broad and of easy curve and grade, forming an easy and picturesque access to the grounds from the back gate, and in full view of the Tower and its terraces.

Also a Lawn[(a) on Plan (G)] or circular Orn'l G'd on the gentle rising ground just East of Eagle Ave, and either a lake or a shrubbery (b) in the hollow just

points, I think one is naturally led about in the courses I have marked for Eagle, Swan, Albatross and Falcon Avenues.

Should we ever acquire the balance of the Stone Farm, some branches would of course be needed to the westward form Albatross and Pheasant Aves. I have not indicated there now, not wishing to call too much attention to that point.

In regard to fencing, my idea has been (when the time approaches for laying out lots here) to use what old stockade posts we brought from the Watriss [and Chant] lots, as far as they will go in making a stockade fence along the western boundary, (which does not need a^very high fence)

Mt. Auburn

John T. Bradlee Esq Prest.

Dear Sir

I send you plans & papers relating to the Stone Farm received last April, and with them a new plan modified somewhat from Col. Folsom's plan, after a careful examination of the ground & maps.

The principal differences consist in some changes in location of Avenues, which, without injuring the grades of the avenues or increasing the expense in building, leave the land in better shape for division into regular lots; and in Ornamental Grounds (shown on plan in green) in dispensing with a lake at b as I think it would be difficult to provide water for it, and in adding some land around the well house.

The drainage of that portion of land between Eagle Avenue & J. Stone's land (except a small piece near St Paul's Lot which drains into a pond near there) is along the avenues toward the proposed entrance, distant from Charles River but 5 or 600 ft.

The drainage of the portion between Eagle Ave & Coolidge Avenue is provided for over the avenues and by a short drain & via Falcon Ave. to the drain now emptying into Charles River in case cesspools are not sufficient
