to ascertain the sales of Lots of the preceding year.

Section 11th. Be it further enacted, that any three or more of the persons named in this Act shall have authority to call the first meeting of the said Corporation by an advertisement in one or more newspapers, printed in the City of Boston, seven days at least before the time of holding such meeting, and specifying the time and place thereof. And all Proprietors of Lots, who shall before, at or during the time of holding such meeting, by writing assent to this act shall be entitled to vote in person or by proxy at the said first meeting. And at such meeting or any adjournment thereof, any elections maybe had, and any business done, which are herein authorized to be had and done at an annual meeting, although the same may not be specified in the notice for the said meeting. And the first Board of Trustees, chosen at the said meeting shall continue in Office until the annual meeting of the said Corporation next ensuring their choice, and until another Board are chosen in the their stead in pursuance of this Act.

Section 12th. Be it further enacted, That the said Cemetery shall be and hereby is declared exempted from all public taxes, so long as the same shall remain dedicated to the purposes of a Cemetery.

Annual Meeting.

Pursuant to the above notice the Proprietors of the Cemy. of Mount Auburn met at the time & place & place mentioned in the said notice, which was published in one or more newspapers printed in Boston seven days before the time of meeting.

The Honorable Samuel T. Armstrong was chosen President Pro teme. the President of the Corporation being absent. George T. Curtis was chosen Secretary Pro. teme the Secretary of the Corporation being absent.

Trustees. number of to be increased

Voted To increase the number of Trustees to Ten.

Trustees chosen

The following gentlemen were then chosen by ballot Trustees for the succeeding year.

The Treasurers report was then read

Voted To accept the same & that the Report of the Treasurer & of the Auditor be recorded.

Trustees

Pursuant to a notice issued by the Secretary the Trustees of the Proprietors of the Cemetery of Mount Auburn met at the office of the Secretary in Boston on the Present Messrs Armstrong, Bigelow, Bond, Gould & Parker.

The President being absent Dr. Bigelow was chosen chairman. The Secretary being absent Mr George T. Curtis was chosen Secretary pro teme.

Treasurer's Report

The Treasurer laid beore the Society the following report & it was thereupon voted that it be approved & laid before the Corpora tion at their annual meeting this day.

The Treasurer reports the following synopsis of Receipts & Payments for the eighth year ending to wit

There remained in the Treasury on 1 Jany 1839. _ 2780.79 He has since received

Pursuant to notice published by the Secretary in the Boston Daily Advertiser & other newspapers printed in Boston more than five days before the time of meeting, the Proprietors of the Cemetery of Mount Auburn met at the Secretarys office in Boston on . The President being absent Dr. Bigelow - was chosen Chairman. The Secretary being absent George T. Curtis was chosen Secretary pro tempore.

The report of the Treasurer which is recorded above was read accepted & ordered to be recorded

Treasurer's Report.

Voted. that the Treasurer be requested to publish in the newspaper such part of his report as he may think fit.
