Here rests ye body of ye Revd. Mr. John M. Maltby born at New Haven in Connectic August ye 3d A.D. 1727, Graduated at Yale College AD 1747 Minister to a Presbyterian Church at Bermuda & Then at Wilton in South Car olina. A strenuous Assertor of ye Doctrines of Grace convin'd of Original Guilt & Confiding in ye Sole Righteousness of Christ, Justise, Lost Man, before God. In preaching Zealous & Pathetic in his Devotions fervant, his Sermons: Judicious Correct & instructive; his stile Manly & Solemn, of Manners gentle Polite & humane, of strong Mentel Endowments, embe lished with Sacred, & Polite Literature. In his friendship Cordial, sincere & trusty, Detesting Craft Dissimulation & Fraud he dy'd Septr. 30th A. D. --------- 45th. 1771

Note; The face of the stone has split off at the last line above. Missing are "Aetat" and probably 1771. The year 1771 has been recarved as shown.

Mrs. Mary Consort of Henry Hutchinson Esq. and daughter of the Hon. Bezaleel Woodward, Prof. of Math. & Phil. in D. College; died May 5 A.D. 1825. Aged 41 Rev. 14th --- 13th

Mary wife of George Wheeler Esq. Died aged years

11 Table stone;

Here are deposited the remains of Mrs. Mary, Consort of the Hon. B. Woodward, and daughter of the Rev. E. Wheelock, D.D. born , died . She was a dutiful daughter, an inestimable companion, a tender mother, and a kind neighbor. The religion of JESUS shone in her life, and brightened her path through the vale of death. Her example hath left an indelible impression on the hearts of her acquaintance, who while they lament their loss, rejoice in her gain. Her remembrance will last when this marble is defaced, and the latest reader of this inscription is numbered with the dead.

BEZALEEL WOODWARD Professor of Mathematics and natural and moral Philosophy are here deposited He was born and died Aged 59 years Having faithfully served his country in various offices and the literary Institution in this vicinity as a distinguished Instructor from its establishment in he is called from endeared and grateful relatives friends and pupils to a World of which his views were just there to realize the hope of eternal life which he cherished confiding in the merits of the great Redeemer
