today felt very bad & turned into my bunk. Several lady passengers

Friday 16th, July 1858

Been very seedy all week have not been able to eat anything heavy dull weight about my eyes cannot turn them round. today feel somewhat better was able to take a little breakfast this morning first food since last Saturday morning this afternoon at 5 oclock Anchored in Akyab Harbour. saw "Proserpine" laying Dibbs came of in the ships Cutter got my traps in & went on board the "Proserpine" felt a great deal better. The ladies Mrs. Power, Miss Rickett & Miss Goldsworthy went ashore. saw them come of[f] to the Steamer in the evening when Cadian Dibbs & I went ashore. Called this evening on the Capt. & Mrs. Eals found not at home

the Gun room when a note came from Capt. Eales requesting me to come & live with him on shore which offer I at once accepted.

Augt. 23rd. 1858

This evening went again on board after some very pleasant days residence [Master struck through] on shore. Mr. Geo. Law having share my room. I visited the ship morning & evening. Mr. Dibbs & some men of the naval brigade being on the sick list part of the time in the evening the Capt. Mrs. Eales the Mid. & I went for a walk weather permitting some days it rained incessantly. Capt. & Mrs. Eales were very kind indeed during my residence on shore with them

Augt. 24th 1858.

Mid Morning weighed & proceeded on our way to Akyab. The weather however very squally & misty

some very fine french songs. Rested a little after 12 & got on board at 1/2 past 12. Johnson in a wax about being told that Sambo said he was a heavy handed sinner.

August 26th. 1858.

This morning weighed anchor at 5 oclock & left Kyauk Phyoo we had some heavy rolling crossing Cambermere Bay, three seas crossing in different directions. Mrs. Eales very seasick on the passage. Baby much better after 2 days severe illness. had a fine day for the passage it was very warm in passing between the Barningas Anchored in Akyab Harbour a little after three in the afternoon. Went ashore with Dibbs in the eveg. Called at Capt. Eales & Harpers Capt. asked me to dine but

declined & went on board at 1/2 past 7 oclock.

Sept 10th. 1858

Have been lying in Akyab Harbour since last entry going on shore occasionaly in the evening. have been attending Mrs. Eales who had fever. Answered a letter with regard to treatment of Convicts from the Commisioner of Arracan through the Capt. suggested by Native Surgeon Thomas & yesterday answered a letter from the Commisioner of Arracan in which he inquires whether I could be spared to act for the Civil Surgeon of Sandoway, to which I replied that we has a large number of sick on board & that it was necessary for a medical

vivid & thunder deafening happened on a good many successive nights until the breeze came on Cassiagni & I dined at the Capts. on Monday by Mrs. E invitation Met Miss Law & Miss Hughdsdon. Harper Norman Johnstone, Next morning had a note fron Johnson asking me to come come ashore see the Capt. & take breakfast remained ashore all day & drove Mrs. Eales out to the point in the evening Slept at Johnson's all night & went on board in the morning about eight blowing pretty stiff Ship are foundedly uncomfortable when I went on board everything topsy turvy in the after Cabin the Gun room & Cabins painting & niggers holy stoning. breakfast & dinner on deck & slept on the
