Dear Miss Van Waters This is the first opportunity I've had to write to you so I'll make good use of it. I am working at the Waltham Watch Co. and I like it very much. I'm doing what they call "buffing pinecones." It is very fine work and I have to use a pair of tweezers and a jewelers glass. My machine finishes and polishes the tiniest little screws imaginable. My wages are forty-four cents an hour with time and one half for over-time and I work a fifty hour week. I think I was very lucky to begin on that. Everyone, so far, have been most kind to me. I'm afraid I won't be able to come up to visit the Biography class because I work everyday. I would like to visit

My dear Mrs. Van Waters

Thank you so much for the book! I shall always cherish it and if I come up one day I will bring the book with me so that you can write something on the fly-leaf for me. That was the first thing I looked for and I was a litttle bit disappointed because it wasnt there. However, I will bring it with me when I go to see you. There isn't anything to tell you except that I'm so tired at the end of the day I stay home nights. I've been to two movies and that's all. Please say "hello" to Dr. Van Waters for me also Anne Markey, Ronnie, and the Biography Class. I miss Tuesday and Friday afternoon. Do you still hear from Alice Lovejoy? I'd like to see the kittens.
