Dear Miss Van Waters
This is the first opportunity
I've had to write to you so I'll
make good use of it. I am working
at the Waltham Watch Co.
and I like it very much. I'm doing
what they call "buffing pinecones."
It is very fine work
and I have to use a pair of
tweezers and a jewelers glass.
My machine finishes and polishes
the tiniest little screws imaginable.
My wages are forty-four cents
an hour with time and one half
for over-time and I work a
fifty hour week. I think I was
very lucky to begin on that.
Everyone, so far, have been most
kind to me. I'm afraid I won't
be able to come up to visit the
Biography class because I work
everyday. I would like to visit
