THE ART GALLERY
?
UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND AT COLLEGE PARK
12 September 1996
MEMORANDUM
TO: Juanita Holland, David Driskell
FR: Terry Gips
RE: Driskell Exhibition Progress

In these busy first two weeks of the semester, I’ve had a chance to informally talk with
you both about the need to produce a working checklist of the 1998 exhibition and to outline a schedule for the traveling venues. We have several museums who are very eager to receive the
checklist and to confirm their commitments to host the exhibition. I have told them that they would hear from us during September.

Juanita, could I ask you to set up a meeting for the three of us (and Adrienne Childs if you like) to work on these two matters? As you know, I have not had any staff assistance for this project since the middle of August, and therefore am not able to do any substantial work on it. In fact, even routine tasks have been delayed because an undergraduate intern who had committed to
work at the Gallery this fall had to change her plans. I understand that Michele Eastman is addressing the staffing issue.

In the meantime, it would be very unfortunate to lose the venues for the exhibition--something that could happen if we are not able to provide the information the museums need in
order to get decisions from their committees and boards.

I look forward to hearing from you.
