James Hall
July 13th 1846

Rec'd July 27-1846

I.A. Lapham Esq.
Milwaukee Wisconsin.
Ans'd & box sent Aug. 22 1846

Albany July 13th 1846,

My dear sir-

Your favor of May 26th with a book & box of fossils came safely to hand, for which accepting sincere thanks-and allow me here & acknowledge previous favors, and away the [cartest?] a request to [finished?] books &c. which I shall do at my cordial convenience.-

Your fossils are extremely interesting to me and though they may not satisfactorily identify the foundations with those of New York, are nevertheless sufficiently characteristic.

Your limestone I contains [fossils?] which I should refer to the age of our Heldeburg rocks, but if it is to be true that this is the lowest member then [reach?] inference would not hold true- No 18 is a cyertoceras or Lithuit, the specimen, being too imperfect to decide - 19, Orthoceras
20. (Flustrer?) is Retopoza infundhuliformous? -
21. Nucula-closely resembling if not identical with h. aurarfinata
[Continuing list of fossils and their identifications.]
