LaPointe County.

Is bounded north by Lake Superior; east by Marathon; south by Chippewa; and west by Douglas. The townships included in this county are all north of the "correction line" between townships forty and forty one in range one east and from one to nine inclusive west of the Meridian. If we include the Apostle Islands, this county is eighty miles long, and fifty four broad. The superficial area is estimated at three thousand two hundred and forty seven square miles. La Pointe county was established in 1845 and fully organized for judicial purposes in 1850. The population of this county in 1847 was 367
