for the white pupils of the City Public Schools to be located in the Northwestern part of thesaid City in a section known as Preston Heights and near the Property recently acquired by the School Board of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, from J.W. Fishburne and Lilie S. Dinwiddie.
WHEREAS, a large part of the land necessary for such purpose has already been acquired or is not held under option at reasonable prices, and
WHEREAS, the said City has not been able to acquire theresidue of the land necessary forsaid purpose at a reasonable price.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, that the following lots be condemned for the purpose stated above: Lots 136 and 137 on plat of the Traders Land Company's property recorded in .D.B. 146 P. 317 in the Clerks Office of the Circuit Court of Albemarle County, now belonging to Jennie B. Huffman: Lots 141, 142, 143, 144, 148 and 149 on said plat now belonging to B.E. Wheeler; Lots 145, 146 and 147 on said plat now belonging to Burruss Antrim: Lots 150, 151, 152, 153 on said plat now belongint to F.M. Huyett. The City Attorney is directed to bring the necessary proceedings to condemn said land and the City Engineer is directed to furnish the City Attorney the necessary plats for use in said proceedings.

COUNCIL CHAMBER, November 20th, 1922.
A regular meeting of the Council was held on this date with the following Council-men present, Brown, Joachim and Morris.
Minutes of November 6th and 13th were read and approved.
Mr. H.K. Hawthorne was granted the privilege of the floor to present the needs of additional fire equipment at Fire House.
Upon motion by Mr. Joachim duly seconded by Mr. Brown the ladder truck was ordered motorized. The Business Manager was instructed to have a dummy fire plug put in at the Fire House.
A petition from citizens of Harris Street for an Arc Light to be located at number 800 Harris Street was referred to Commissioner Brown and the Business Manager with power to act.
A petition of the Charlottesville Ice Company for permission to erect and maintain an overhead transmission line between the property of the Rothwell Cold Storage and Ice Company to that of the Charlottesville Ice Company was read and laid aside until the next meeting.
An ORDINANCE entitled "AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING CITY LICENSE PLATES TO BE ATTACHED TO ALL MOTOR DRIVEN VEHICLES" presented by E.A. Joachim was/read and upon the rules being suspended was passed by the following recorded vote, Ayes, Morris, Brown & Joachim.
Upon motion by Mr. Joachim duly seconded by Mr. Brown the Business Manager was instructed to purchase the necessary equipment to motorize the ladder Truck of the Fire Department at an estimated cost of $8000.00.
The assistant Clerk was instructed to write a letter to Mr. E.I. Carruthers extending him a vote of thanks for his services and as per his request he will be relieved of his duties as of December 1st, 1922. Upon motion by Mr. Joachim, seconded by Mr. Brown, H.A. Haden Assistant Clerkand Assistant Auditor was promited to Clerk and Auditor.
Upon motion the meeting adjourned.
