[p.367] DECEMBER 25 x 19 Snowing hard - Lovely day - Many records - "Nutcracker Suite" etc. H. gave me Pratt's Poems & Van Wyck Brooks. Alan came 19 Rain & sleet all day. Lovely time. Played records, played darts, turkey, etc. Russian records from Fred, Dumbo records 19 Cold. New bookcase, records, books etc. Lovely tree. Goose dinner. Children skating H. left for Winnipeg. Lovely day. records, box from D. got dark nylons, handbag, glass dishes, etc. Played poker & authors. Took a walk at night. 19 Lovely records, books etc A. & I played cribbage. Chicken dinner. Wonderful to have D. here. Very cold. Took D. to station at 10 & he went to Cal.

Alan here for cold turkey. Crown & anchor. 19 Children skating all day. wndy & Alan here for skating & dinner. Mary out. Cold. Fri. 19 H. took Fred, Anne & Hugh to lunch, Anne at Honeypot. H. & I to Jack Crean's. Mary & Fred played bridge. Sun. 19 Mary, Anne & I to Church. read, wrote letters. Boy friends of Hugh's here & girls" of Anne's. Cold.

Wendy here for dinner. 19 Fri Children skating. I shopped. Boys, Anne & I to movie. Ice storm. Mary out. 19 Talked. Fred, H., H. & I to see "Henry V"." Harold to Chicago. Donald called up from Palo Alto. Fred & I talked. 19 Washed, made marmalade. Much rushing in & out. Hugh & Harold left for Cleveland.

Heard Symphony & read. Wrote to donald. A. skiing. Tues. 19 To bank & stores. Mild. Read & wrote letters. Cleaned my desk. Our club Xmas party at Luella's, wore evening dress, supper & games.
