Resolutions passed by Dix Logan Post No. 3 G.A.R. Resolved that DIX LOGAN POST NO. 3. G.A.R. Department of Utah, desire to convey to governor WILLIAM SPRY, their approval of his course and actions in performing and observing his recent unpleasant duties, in the enforcement of the laws of the land.

We commend him for his courage in not being swerved from his purpose of fulfilling his pledged and sworn obligations and duties as Governor, by the cowardly, secret threats of Anarchists and Assassins.

We pledge him our sympathy and hearty support in his endeavors to rid our state of the dangerous and disgraceful element, that has lately been attempting to intimidate him and the decent, respectable, law abiding people of our state.

Charles Rollow Commander

Dec. 23, 1915.

Mr. W. N. Peirce, Ogden, Utah. My dear Mr. Peirce:- This letter is written in acknowledgement of your communication of November 26th, enclosing a resolution of Dix-Logan Post No. 3, G. A. R., Department of Utah, commendatory of my action in the Hillstrom case and pledging support in my efforts to rid the state of the lawless element. This resolution rings true to the spirit which moved the members of your organization to take up arms in defence of government. The enemies of our government are not always those who take up arms against it but the most insidious onslaughts are being made by people who cannot even claim citizen-ship, who are denouncing government and those who are charged with the enforcement of law and order, from step-ladders and soap-boxes on the street corners of our largest cities. I admire your spirit and beg to express my sincere appreciation of the sentiments which you express. I wish you would convey to the members of the Post my thanks and assurances that their patriotic sentiments will be potent in assisting officials in seeing that the laws are properly enforced. Very truly yours, Governor.
