[[Waterloo]], though I care little in general
for seeing fields of battle; yet this [still?]
remains to us like no other; succeeding
battles have not [illegible?] thrown it
into the shade, on the contrary, twenty
years & more of peace almost un=
interrupted from a kind oflong vista
through which, in looking back upon
it, one feels more fully the prominent
place which it has occupied in the
destinies & history of [[Europe]] — And
it stands a grander & more marked
event now, than even when it took place.

The women at [[Antwerp]], were [illegible?]
with immense lappets, sometimes sur=
mounted by curious little bonnets, the
shape of which sets taste at defiance _
