Sam & he went with me down to depot at 1:30 and I took local train for Carson -- Arrived at 3:30 -- Found letters from Sam and from wife sent before I left here -- also one from Salt Lake Tribune, with check for $3.38 in payment for January work -- Also one from Judge Webster -- on my missing journal report of last Monday -- was at the State House awhile --

Received my last weeks salary from Nate Roff for the Journal report -- Evening about town -- Bed 12 -- Found the package of six collars I lost Jan 25, nearly 3 wks ago, on my table in my room last night -- The chambermaid, Miss Thomas found it in sweeping under the bed, so I did get it safe home at first, after all -- Must have got accidentally knocked off & rolled under the bed --

Same -- Reported for the Journal as usual -- Took my Carson new hat back to Abe Cohn's & he paid me my $2 back -- Evening wrote short letter to send to the Will & Finck Company, 818 Market st, San Franciscio, Cal -- inquiring about my razor -- St Valentine Day -- Bed 11 --
