2 Salvation Army men & 2 women made their appearance this evening from somewhere -- played big drum & a brass horn very badly marching down street from old barracks & sung, & exhorted, etc -- drew quite a crowd & some nickels --

Same -- Woman Suffrage resolution came up this PM in Senate -- In amend article of Constitution by striking out word "male" wherever it occurs -- Crowd of ladies present -- Resolution lost by a tie vote, 7 to 7 -- Lord absent -- not a constitutional majority -- I made longer report than usual -- Evening was at Capitol & wrote 3 page letter to William Nelson, managing editor SL Tribune inclosing my statement of acc't, also the one from business dept of the Tribune -- great discrepancy -- want it explained -- Bed 12

Same -- My busy day -- Long report to Journal and 2 three page letters to Chronicle and Tribune -- Got my razor back all right from the Will & Finck Co 818 & 820 Market st S.F. -- No extra charge from the 50 cents I sent in postage stamps -- postage 4 cts each way -- Bed 11 -- tired & lame -- Found in yesterday's SF Examiner notice of death of Dr Washington Ayer
