Report of New Department and New Institute in School of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
With President Friday's approval North Carolina State of the University of North Carolina at Raleigh has established in the School of Agriculture and Life Sciences a new department to be known as "The Department of Extension Personnel Development". It is charged with the development and administration of a program of in-service training for the professional staff of the Agricultural Extension Service.
The College has also established a "Graduate Institute of Extension Education" which involves other disciplines across the campus for the purpose of administering graduate instruction in Extension Education.
Change in Title - New Department Head and Director
Dr. Edgar John Boone, Assistant Director of the Agricultural Extension Service and Professor of Rural Sociology, School of Agriculture and Life Sciences, will become, in addition to his regular duties, Director of the Graduate Institute of Extension Education and Head of the Department of Extension Personnel Development, effective May 1, 1964. Dr. Boone was appointed to the faculty on September 1, 1963.
