"Our Room" - Sunday Morning The Grove. D. Oh! Jan 2nd 1859[underlined]

Dear Brother of mine -

Cora received your letter - written the day after Christmas - yesterday; we were right glad to hear from you; your letters do not come as often as they did last winter and are therefore more precioius.

Did you make New Years calls? We had one; Frank rode out last night, and returned this morning; He is not well that old cough is troubling him again.

This is a glorious morning; clear and bright, and quite cold.

I hope you will enjoy Fathers visit a great deal.

Mr Chase did not come home yesterday much to our disappointment we expected him Christmas, and thought surely he would come

Cousin Annie was there she is extremely well this winter.

Yesterday Aunts Avis and Delia had a childrens candy[underlined] party[underlined], I fancy

they were thankful when it was all over with.

My favorite row of golden willows, are gleaming brightly against the dark background of woods, and between me and the willows those large pines (in the new apple orchard) turner up quite grandly. I think the view from this window very good.

I have him sending Mrs Jamesons "characters of women", I like it much. Mrs Jameson must have injoyed reading Shakespeare; and appreciated him too.

I expect Charlie will come home either to day or, to morrow, but only to sty a few hours. He will probably start fore Goose Nubbin on tuesdy; and will not come home again for several weeks.

patience enough to keep still long enough for it to get well.
