July 1984

Then off to San Diego. The last time I went to San Diego at all was the over-crazy trip in August '82, which may as well not have happened, since Ron Jesse's dad died + I didn't see him. The time before that was September '81 when I knew I'd be moving to Seattle, so after running in to Russell at Dillons, I sightseed awhile and wasn't impressed. The time before that was October '80 going to the zoo one cloudy Sunday with R.

I started off my visit by just driving around up 805 [insert] passed 8 [/insert], back to 8, passed 163, back to 163, cruise around Hillcrest, down Park Blvd to downtown (lots of blacks + scuz) back up to Hillcrest, bought groceries, look for gym, drive out 8 to Rosecrans, and out to Mission Blvd trying to find Golds gym. Then find out its on Mission Bay Crive on the other side of the Bay, so I drive out Grand, eat a burger + exercise. Scuzzy Gym!!! Unvacuumed carpet, awful music, paint peeling, one shower, dumb jocks, old equipment, etc. Glad when that was done. Not impressed.

Then up to Park Blvd to dine at Park Place which is severl notches below the Ritz, and menanwhile I tried to find all the latest [bavs] by reading the "Update" + "Gazette." I went to most. Only thing new in 3 years was Dillon's has video, and there is a real fun video bar called "flicks." Good comedy. But how boring not to change in almost 3 years!

I met a rather skinny guy who had nice tight furry tits, and was real cute, so I went home with him but got kicket out, after so I had to get my own T lodge. Yuk, I hate those. But at least I got to sleep until 10:00, after which I had breakfast somewhere on Rosecrans.

Also I ran into David Burns at WCPC so we went for a drive around La Jolla + Pacific Beach. That was very good for me. But his friend David, whose Grandmother is very wealthy, was real strange. That's what no work + no enthusiasm can do to you.

My conclusion is still the same: not enthused about San Diego. It's probably quite nice to live in, but there's no reason to try for it. It offers little over Seattle. It has sun + perhaps more cute boys, but no changing season no lakes no geography as beautiful as Seattle's no green [insert to left] Where to go when you need to get away? LA? Laguna? [/insert]

And I knew very few people there: David Burns who is strange due to nouveau riche Tom Fleming Ron Jesse

The only part I like a lot is near the beach but every time I go there it seems to be cloudy or at best hazy.

And if I'd though S.D. was so great when I lived in Irvine, I'd have visited it more often.

So I will stop considering S.D. for living in. Also cruised around Long Beach on way home. 45 min to LA!
