Tickets were fifty cents apiece but Mr. Harris bought mine and Mr. Mogan Minnie's. Miss Sophire Newland captivated us all with her singing and Miss Jordan made a charming accompanist in a red dress. I wore my brown dress and hat. Most of us put on a little more style than we would perhaps if we had many occasions for wearing our good clothes.

Preparations are going on for our Washington reception. We can not have refreshments because of the number and our distance from supplies, but we wish to do all that we can for we shall not have very many opportunities to indulge in such gayeties. Today is rather cloudy but just for that reason a good day for work, so I must get to work.
