English on yellow paper and are very cute. Clara Avery and I asked Miss Thompson and then Dr. Jordan if there was any objection to it and they both think it will be very nice and agreed to it readily. Miss Thompson also enlisted me in helping her in some of her ideas, and she says I am very sensible in such things, which I only tell you to just ease your mind a little.

Miss Thompson is very much liked. She has not said much to us but has a certain quiet way of showing that her opinions are and because the girls respect her they are apt to respect her wishes, except those who are so giddy that it would take more than force even to restrain and alas we have some of those as I suppose every place has. You see she is not put here to have anything but general oversight over us and she has to make her influence rather than her authority felt.

We have not yet met the Des Moines boys, though I am anxious to as they look like nice boys. Mr. Bannister is in my German and Mr. Campbell in my History class. Miss Ortin, who graduated last year from Iowa City, knew Mr. Campbell and he called upon her and she invited them both to the reception and we shall perhaps meet them then if not before.
