Dearest Mother,
I heard to day from
thee Oh! Dr. and wasn't I happy
it was the letter that thee
wrote to Camp Meade and contained
news that was very
sweet and it was also short
I had just gotten my mess tin
down and was started on my bacon
and all the other good things
and Lt. Fisher handed me thy
letter tears came to the old eyes
and they are in them right
now but they are happy
ones A little weak. but
Mother dear I love thee and
it is so hard to be so far
away from one who is so
true and who has done so
much for me.
