5] Julia Hallowell asked if there are two varieties of barberry? Yes, but only one kind – Japanese barberry – can be bought from the florists.
The report of the Community Council was read and discussed.
The Treasurer was ordered to pay the increased dues of $4.25, - the increase of $1.25 being to take care of the dues to the County Civic Federation.
A resolution favoring consolidated Alms Houses was passed and ordered sent to Governor Ritchie – the member of the General Assembly and to the County Commissioner.

Rose Hill – 4-2-19313 881st meeting
After luncheon the 881st meeting of the Mutual Improvement Association was called to order by Elizabeth T. Stabler at Rose Hill 4-2-1931 at two o’clock in the afternoon. The March meeting had been omitted on account of the death of a member – Anna Farquhar.
The minutes of the last meeting at Rose Hill were read – and the minutes of the last meeting read and accepted.

Estelle Moore read an interesting article about women of the long ago their work – the economic side of marriage etc. – evidently the age of masculine domination. Needlework was of particular interest – the result being the development of the patch-work quilt. She then announced an exhibition of quilts at Brookeville Memorial hall on the 17th and 18th.
Question – When is the right time to remove the glass jar covering rose-slips? Late in May.
Helen Shoemaker contributed a very beautiful poem “My Garden”. Question - How
