The Cedars
June 1st 1919
May

The May meeting of The Horticultural was
held on the afternoon of the 6th at
The Highlands.

The Pres. opened the meeting with a
loving tribute to our beloved member,
Margaret Magruder - who had so recently
been taken from us.

A paper expressing the love our society
bore for her was written by Ellen
Farquhar & read by the Sec.

Cousing Margaret was one of the charter
members of The Horticultural, and for
these many long years had taken
such an active interest in all things
connected with our society, that it
is hard for us to realize she is no
longer with us _ and the words
of the poet seem our very own.

"We canot feel that they are far
Since near at hand the angels are;
And when the sunset gates unbar,
Shall we not see them waiting stand,
And, white against the waning star,
The welcome of a beckoning hand."
